Simple French Toast with Seasonal Berries Breakfast Recipe

A toast to breakfast and simple Sunday mornings! This French toast recipe is deliciously simple and packed with local ingredients. We suggest adding in season berries in the spring or berry jam that preserves the peak season flavor the rest of the year. You will need a shallow dish for dipping the sourdough in the egg mixture and a whisk to mix up your egg mixture. You will also need a frying pan to fry up this exquisite breakfast dish. This recipe serves 2 people, but can easily be scaled up for a brunch party.
Here is how to make this recipe with purpose-fueled food that’s better for the prosperity of our planet and people.
Ingredients
1 pasture-raised egg
¼ cup whole milk
4 slices of sourdough bread
½ tsp. ground cinnamon
¼ tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tbsp. butter
4 strawberries, sliced (optional)
1 tbsp. honey (optional)
1 tbsp. berry jam (optional)
1 tbsp. maple syrup (optional)
Directions
Add 1 tbsp. of butter to the frying pan and melt the butter over medium heat.
Whisk together the milk, eggs, cinnamon, salt and vanilla extract in the shallow dish.
Dip the sourdough bread in the egg mixture until it is coated on all sides. Then, add the bread to the frying pan. Cook until browned on both sides and cooked through. Repeat the process with the remaining pieces of bread.
Once cooked, stack your French toast pieces and add the toppings of your choice.
