Dayna’s Gluten-Free Recipes: Oven Rutabaga Fries

One of our lovely members, Dayna Lewin, is our first guest blogger, sharing her recipes and what she loves about 4PFoods.

As we all know, 4Pfoods is amazing, but what are the reasons why you love it? Do you enjoy supporting the farmers and our communities? Do you love that your bag is delivered right to your home or office? Has it helped you learn to cook differently?

In addition to the reasons above, I love 4P Foods because it gets me to try new products and recipes, and because it has made being gluten free much easier. I was diagnosed with Celiac disease about 5 years ago and am always on the hunt for new gluten free recipes and the best gluten free restaurants in the DMV area.

Joining 4P Foods has not only made cooking gluten free easy because of the great products, but also really diversified my meals and the way I prepare them. The combination of the products we get each week with the online community that 4PFoods has created is truly invaluable to my family’s meal-planning and nutritional needs!

Last week in my bag, I got a rutabaga, which I never would have thought to buy at a grocery store (nor would I have known the difference between that, a turnip or an oversized potato). I decided to try out this recipe and added potatoes from my bag as well. It was quick, easy and didn’t require a lot of ingredients – my favorite kind of recipe!

Cut the potatoes like the rutabaga, follow the rest of the recipe and maybe keep them in the oven 5-10 minutes longer for crispier fries. Add a side of ketchup or aioli and you have yourself a delicious and healthy side dish!

Peel and cut the potatoes and rutabaga into matchsticks. Toss them with 1 tsp olive oil, 4 sprigs fresh minced rosemary, 3 minced cloves of garlic and 1 pinch of salt.

Lay rutabaga spears onto a baking sheet, leaving space between for even crisping. Bake in a 400 degree oven until rutabaga fries are cooked through and crisped on the outside, about 30 minutes.
