American Heritage Family Farm

American Heritage Family Farm began with a family's desire to provide the healthiest food possible for their children. After Joe and Katey Saffer married in 1998 and welcomed their three children, their middle son, Ayden, was diagnosed with autism. Determined to give their family the very best nutrition, the Saffers set out to raise their own food with complete confidence in how it was produced. What started with a few animals on 31 acres in Manassas, Virginia, soon grew into a much larger vision rooted in farming, stewardship, and community.

In 2014, the family expanded to a 200-acre farm in Warrenton, Virginia, where they continued to grow their livestock operation. Two years later, they officially established American Heritage Family Farm, dedicating themselves to raising healthy animals while carefully managing every step of the process—from growing their own feed to developing species-specific nutrition programs with animal nutritionists and veterinarians. Their philosophy is simple: healthy animals begin with healthy soil, quality feed, and attentive care.

Today, American Heritage Family Farm raises pasture-raised cattle, pigs, sheep, and poultry using regenerative grazing practices that improve soil health, strengthen pastures, and reduce the need for outside inputs. While their animals spend their lives on pasture, the farm finishes its cattle and pigs with homegrown, non-GMO grain to produce the marbling, flavor, and nutrition customers expect from premium Virginia-raised meat. The grain is grown on the farm and carefully formulated into custom feed blends, giving the Saffer family complete transparency over what goes into every animal.

Beyond producing exceptional food, American Heritage Family Farm is committed to making regenerative agriculture accessible to local families. The farm offers beef, heritage pork, Virginia-raised lamb, pasture-raised poultry, tallow-based body care products, and gently dehydrated dog treats through its farm store, farmers markets, and local delivery programs. By raising animals humanely, caring for the land responsibly, and connecting directly with customers, the Saffer family continues to build a resilient local food system centered on trust, quality, and community.
